22 Sep 2005by SPC Smith - 1-162 IN on September 22, 2005 at 8:26 AMPack it up, move it out...Go, Go, Go! On 21 SEP we got up at 0430, packed up our gear, and got ready to depart New Orleans for home. We got called off once, then told we were back on to depart, before we boarded busses and head to a transfer point to take other busses to Alexandria, LA. At the transfer point we were told that the move was off and that we were returning to FOB Douglass. We moved back into the school, set back up all of the infrastructure, offices, living areas, chow hall, etc. that we had just taken down. This morning we were ready to begin a day of reorganization and refit, until 0800 when we got the call to pack up everything again and get ready to move. No word on where we are going or why. Maybe it is because Hurricane Rita has changed to a North Westerly track and could possibly affect us here? Is it because we are moving to a new AO or FOB? To some extent it doesn't matter. I'll be in the Guard all day long, so they can have me do whatever they want. But, nothing throws a soldier off more than extra work, confusion, and being moved out of a hooch that he has just gotten comfortable in. Hopefully I'll get to make another update in a few days depending on the situation. | SPC Smith - 1-162 INTop Stories
